Saturday Build 08-02-08
Another excellent work Saturday with about 20 volunteers on site including a big assist from Steve Coulter and his partner from S&T Farms (Attica) with his huge crane which made the task of lifting our rafters a breeze. The first gable truss took awhile to properly set followed by the next regular truss which went quicker, then .... each time I looked up, our work crew including our new homeowner Jason, and his cousin, had two to three more fastened in place. Over all, the truss work took less than 3 hours (including another excellent lunch provided this time by the Ladies of the North Branch Order of the Eastern Star (Masonic Lodge). By 4:00 pm, the back roof plywood was in place and we moved to the front where Mike Johns and crew layed out the Facia board (vertical front of the rafter face).
The bottom row of plywood was installed on the front of the house, the site cleared and materials covered for the next work day. Jason, his cousin and another friend showed up yesterday to complete the plywood sheeting in preparation for roofing on Saturday, August 9th. We expect our windows to arrive this week and will install them next Saturday, and begin siding installation as well. Click here to begin
